| Program Overview: | |
|
Backroads of Burma has been designed for travellers seeking a different and interesting experience. The focus is on remote, bucolic and diverse parts of the country. Starting and finishing in Yangon, our schedule, predominately coach based, begins with two unusual destinations: Mon State and the terminus of the Death Railway ; and Sri Ksetra, the rarely-visited ancient Pyu capital with its distinctive conical Buddhist stupas. Mystical Mount Popa, the Mount Olympus of Burma and home to its most powerful nats, follows and from here we proceed north along the river plain of the Ayeyarwady to the wonderful temples of Bagan. We journey through timeless and varied landscapes as we explore the many strands of the country’s cultural tapestry. The essence of Burma lies in its atmosphere, its varied scents and colour, its ambience recalling past civilizations and ages. Our journey attempts in a small way to present that eternal beauty.
